Cheese it seems, runs in the blood of the Montalto family. After arriving in Australia from Sicily in the early 1950’s they brought with them their heritage, deep love of Italian culture and the art of how to make cheese.
The name “Floridia Cheese” is an homage to their roots, that were set in Italy, but have expanded to Australia along with their expertise and passion for their product.
Floridia is now run by a 3rd generation of Montalto’s and the company has expanded from their humble beginning in Bundoora to being sold nationally throughout deli’s, markets and supermarkets as well as beyond the Australian shores.
Our initial involvement with Floridia was to bring to life their lovely product range through the digital lens of the Floridia website. Whilst their products are available in many locations around the country, the family wanted to expand their client base even further, allowing the public to purchase their products right off their website.
“We want as many people as possible to enjoy our delicious cheese, how do we do that?” was the overarching brief that we received.
We were fortunate enough to be awarded “website of the year 2023” in the hospitality category for the Floridia Cheese website.
Throughout the course of our relationship with Floridia, we continue to support them in their digital expansion, assisting them to grow not just the online component of the business and their online sales, but to help them bring the business into the future by building them an inventory management database for their raw product, which they source from Australian farmers.
Whilst the Montaltos have come from modest origins, they have laid the foundation for one of Australia's most distinguished cheese manufacturing enterprises, one that continues to grow and one that we are proud to support.
